For those that dont know much about me, I work for a major airline out of Buffalo. I also was on duty last night when Flt 3407 crashed and exploded five miles from me, where it was supposed to land and park at the gate next to one of ours. 44 pax, 5 crew and 1 man on the ground died. 50 total lives cut short. With the weather being a mix of snow and rain, I could not see the flames from the ramp. Since they have not released names yet, I do not know if I knew any of the crew from the flight. The aiport is not that big, just 22 gates. Being next door I knew quite a few of the Continental people. Crashes never happen here. Its always somewhere else like LGA, MDW or DEN. Its hard to put into words how close to home this hits because it feels like it happened in my backyard.
